The best way to end your wedding celebration is for the two of you to enjoy your new life together by going on a romantic honeymoon getaway! The honeymoon is like the cherry on top of an ice cream sundae! You've planned and planned and planned for your wedding (and maybe even your honeymoon too!), now it is time to kick off those shoes and relax and enjoy being newlyweds.

When it does come time to plan the honeymoon, many brides and grooms have different ideas on what constitutes a honeymoon. Maybe he is dreaming of playing 18 holes at the club everyday, and you are seeking to de-stress while receiving pampering spa services. Or perhaps you both are quite active and would like some fun and exciting activities to do while on your honeymoon, besides lounging in a cabana by the turquoise sea. So before you even book that posh resort for your honeymoon getaway, keep these things in mind and you'll be on your way to planning the honeymoon you'll both be sure to enjoy.

  • Do you have a budget? - Sure everyone wants to stay in that $1,000 a night room, but does it really fit with your lifestyle and your budget? Although you may want your honeymoon to be over the top, don't overextend yourselves to do it. Set a budget or limit together and see what your possibilities are with what money you have. You'll be quite surprised at what you can do and where you can go, once you have set a budget.
  • What are your interests? - Are the both of you beach bums and would love to just veg on the beach all day sipping cool cocktails? Or do you the both of you enjoy history and would love to check out some sites together? Or what about a combination of sports and relaxation? Talk it out and see what is important to both of you with regards to what your honeymoon destination should have.
  • What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? - Do you prefer the soft breezes of the islands, or that cozy cabin feeling? Looking for some place exotic? Or are you looking to try out that luxurious bed and breakfast a few hours from where you live? You don't have to fly half way across the world for it to be a honeymoon. Try looking right around where you live. You'll be surprised at what is available in your neck of the woods. Not only is that idea budget-friendly, but the staff will be sure to go that extra mile to make your stay memorable, especially if your local.
  • Search for deals! - With so many hotels, airlines, cruise ships and resorts battling one another for your business, you'll be sure to find a deal that is both pleasing for you and your budget. Search online and don't be afraid to ask what extras can be thrown in for free. Spread the news that you are newlyweds and many companies and their staff will be sure to make you both feel extra special either by upgrading you or by extending free services to you.
